Registration ensures the lineage of purebred livestock into the future

Canadian Livestock Records Corporation

Many of the breeds on our conservation list have registration work completed by the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation (CLRC). CLRC has been in existence since the early 1900’s and continues to be respected worldwide for the integrity of the registry. CLRC works with the following associations:

Holstein Canada

Holstein Canada holds the registries for several dairy cattle breeds, other than Holstein. Included in those from our conservation list:

  • Canadienne Cattle

  • Canadian Guernsey Association

  • Milking Shorthorn Society of Canada

  • Canadian Brown Swiss and Braunvieh Association

American Poultry Breeders Association

Although there is no registry for poultry, the American Poultry Association breed standards assist in breeding poultry to standard. It is essential to follow APA “Standards of Perfection” among heritage breeds.
